Megan and Matt met online in January 2024. I especially love photographing couples who met online, because that’s how my fiancé and I met, too! Shout-out to dating apps for our modern day love stories! We love to see it!!!
On Megan and Matt’s first date, they went ice skating at Rosa Park Circle in Grand Rapids. After skating, they continued the date together with dinner at a local pub.
After making it official and dating, Megan and Matt got engaged in May during a trip to Mackinac Island. They rode bikes around the island and, when they stopped to take in the view and take a photo, Matt actually had a video going. He got down on one knee, popped the question, and the rest is history!
This couple is just so sweet. They obviously are head over heels for each other, which is just precious! They’re total homebodies, enjoy going on hikes, and LOVE their pup, Gus. Because he’s such a huge part of their lives, we of course had to get some photos with him in them!
Storytelling Engagement Session in Grand Rapids
In early June, we met in Grand Rapids to take their engagement photos together. We walked around the city together snapping photos in order to document this sweet, special season of their love story. I really wanted to capture Megan and Matt’s connection with each other — and I think we were able to do just that!!!
We were planning to take photos at the restaurant of their first date, but they were closed. So, we rolled with the punches and took a few in front of the building.
To capture photos in another meaningful spot in Grand Rapids, we stopped in front of their wedding venue, the McKay Tower. We took some photos in front and are hoping to recreate a few of the shots later this year on their wedding day!
